Top 3 Coffee Shops in Chiang Mai

Not sure if it's my five years in LA but I've been spoiled by Alfred Coffee and many other coffee shops. It's no wonder I took comfort in the familiar my first few days in Chiang Mai. Below are my favorite must-try coffee shops.

Calm Paang Cafe & Sukiyaki

Su Thep, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai 50200

Been here twice now since it's right next door to where I'm staying and it's a gem. They have about 3-4 food items so it's minimal but I prefer that since I'm indecisive if given too many options. The drinks menu is more extensive and they have Rose Italian Soda with incredible floral notes.

Artisan Kiosk

Nimmanhaemin Road Soi 5, Chiang Mai

I know this is about coffee but let's talk matcha - out of this world matcha. The ambience is wonderful and this cute little spot in Nimman transports you to the jungle. They also have smoothies and a variety of other drink options.

Overstand Coffee Shop

19/3, Ratchamanka Road Soi 2, Muang, Chiang Mai 50100

I played it safe and went with the most popular options for both coffee and breakfast. The Iced Coconut Espresso for ฿ 100 (Double shot, coconut flesh, water & ice ) and Chorizo on Sourdough ฿ 190 (With hummus, oven roasted tomatoes and parmesan egg). The drink was very unique and if you're a fan of coconut I'd highly recommend it but if you're used to creamier milk-based drinks it's probably not the best option. The sourdough was toasted to perfection and it all tasted amazing. One thing I love about Thailand is the tomatoes taste nothing like the ones in the US - in a good way.
